About
Jason Schwebke is an assistant professor of accounting in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. Jason earned a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Central Florida, as well as a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Northern Illinois University. Prior to pursuing a Ph.D., Jason held positions in insurance and financial services, and was a manager for a mid-size private company. Jason is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and is also an Enrolled Agent (EA), an IRS-granted credential permitting him to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all matters, including audits, collections, and appeals. He runs a small tax practice and is an active CFP® professional. He has also served as an expert accounting witness in U.S. District Court.
His research interests primarily focus on taxation, particularly judgment and decision making related to taxes, tax policy, and tax compliance issues. Jason's work has been published in The Accounting Review, Journal of the American Taxation Association, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Issues in Accounting Education, and Journal of Accounting Education. He is currently an associate editor at Accounting and the Public Interest and serves on the editorial board at Journal of the American Taxation Association. His teaching interests include taxation and data analytics, and he is a member of the Texas Tech Teaching Academy.
