Arturo Villar, Hispanic Market Weekly's publisher, has 28 years of U.S. Hispanic publishing experience. Starting with Vista Magazine, which he co-founded in 1984, Villar has been one of the most accomplished
leaders in this field.
After Vista, a 1 million circulation English-language weekly magazine distributed
by top newspapers in markets of high density Hispanic population, in 1997 Villar launched
Hispanic Market Weekly, the newsletter. Five years later, his team introduced hispanicmarketweekly.com, the first and most important fully reported digital publication on U.S. Hispanic
marketing and media.
Villar was editor of ALA, the Latin American Features Syndicate, from 1974 to 1984,
and publisher of Opiniones Latinoamericanas, the premier monthly magazine on hemispheric issues. Also during that period his
team launched Revista K, the pioneer newspaper-distributed magazine in Latin America
with a 422,000 weekly circulation through the most prestigious newspapers in the region.
Villar has served on numerous journalism and academic boards, including the Board
of Visitors at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, director of Columbia's
Maria Moors Cabot Journalism Awards program, and co-chair of Florida International
University's School of Communications Advisory Council.
A graduate of North Carolina State University, he was born in Spain and also has
lived in Cuba and Puerto Rico.
