Biography

Kristi Gatto is a doctoral candidate in the College of Media & Communication. She grew up on Long Island, NY, and has always been a storyteller. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music Management and a Master of Arts in Film Production. Upon entering the New York film scene, she combined the skills from both degrees and gravitated towards documentary and music video production. In 2020, she began working on her Ph.D. at Texas Tech University.

Research Areas

  • Entertainment & Pop Culture
Kristi's research interests include how storytelling plays a role in fan culture and immersion. Specifically, she is interested in learning how individuals participate and become entangled in narratives. On the other hand, she looks at how theme park design can lead to a deeper sense of immersion.
