Biography

With my parents growing up as migrant workers, my father saw great value in education and journalism. As a child, reading the newspaper alongside him helped develop my passion for print. In 2001, I found myself embarking on my college career, focusing on journalism. After taking a break from my education, I returned to my studies as a non-traditional student and graduated from Texas Tech in 2014. At that time, I began working as a freelance/stringer for The New York Times. In 2016, my career shifted into the newsroom where I served as the public safety reporter for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal for a few years. There, I worked to break and develop high-profile crime stories. Born and raised in West Texas, I have always loved Texas Tech. I am excited to share my knowledge and passion for journalism and breaking news with my students for many years to come.
