Sonia Moore

Biography

Sonia Lynn Moore received her undergraduate degrees in Journalism and English from Texas Tech University. She earned a master's degree in Higher Education and earned her second master's degree in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University in May 2022. She worked for five years as a newspaper reporter before returning to Texas Tech where she has worked in public relations, marketing, advertising and event planning. She has taught at Texas Tech for a number of years, including Raider Ready, Communication in Nursing, Public Speaking and Small Group Communication courses. She also served as an academic advisor at the TTUHSC School of Nursing for nine years. Her research centers on health communication, specifically nursing students' efficacy and competency when working with patients, their families and other healthcare professionals. She and her husband, Rodney, are the parents of Rodney D. and Ciara, who are both students at Texas Tech University.
