School Psychology - Graduate Certificate
Program Description
The Graduate Certificate in School Psychology is a post-master's certificate designed for those who have completed graduate degrees with "psychology" in the title and who require no more than 15 credit hours of additional specialized training to be prepared to work with children in schools. Students who are interested in School Psychology but have not completed a graduate degree in psychology should simultaneously apply to the 45-hour M.Ed. in Educational Psychology and the School Psychology Certificate.
When combined with the M.Ed. in Educational Psychology or a graduate degree with psychology in the title, students may be eligible for licensure/certification as school psychologists depending on their state's requirements. This certificate does not represent licensure or certification in school psychology.
Application Materials
College Transcripts – Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded to the Graduate School application. Information on submitting official transcripts will be provided to you by the Graduate School. Grade reports or unofficial transcripts from university web portals will not be accepted. Please redact the Social Security Number anywhere it appears on your transcript. If documents are written in a language other than English, a copy of a complete and official English translation must be provided with the original language records.

Note that both the Educational Psychology M.Ed. application and the School Psychology Certificate application must be completed for those without an eligible graduate degree with psychology in the title.
GRE Scores
This program requires official GRE scores. Scores must be no more than 5 years old at the time of application. Official GRE scores must be sent from Educational Testing Services (ETS) to the Texas Tech Graduate School. To register for the examination please visit the GRE Testing website. Texas Tech University's code is 6827.
Semester in which the program can be started
Continuous enrollment, students may begin coursework during any semester. However, applicants should note that some courses are offered only once each academic year, which could postpone certificate completion.
Estimated Hours to Completion
15 hours of coursework.
Financial Aid
Scholarships and assistantships for doctoral students are available through the office of graduate education and research in the College of Education.
Deadlines
Applications should be submitted a minimum of six (6) weeks before the semester the prospective student wishes to begin the program.
