3 College of Education students win school psychology awards

The Texas Association of School Psychologists (TASP) is recognizing three current and former Texas Tech University College of Education students for their outstanding performance in the practice and study of school psychology. The awards are scheduled to be presented Thursday at an annual TASP convention in Dallas:

Julianna Carpenter is receiving the Outstanding School Psychologist Award: Doctoral Level. Carpenter earned a master's degree in educational psychology in 2016 and a Ph.D. in educational psychology/school psychology in 2017. She is now a licensed specialist in school psychology practicing at Southeast Lubbock County Organization (SELCO).

Korbin Williams is being awarded the Outstanding School Psychologist Award: Specialist Level. Williams earned a graduate certificate in applied behavior analysis from Texas Tech and is a board-certified behavior analyst. He is also a student in the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research working on a Ph.D. in special education with an area of interest in applied behavior analysis. Williams is a school psychology specialist at Seminole ISD.

Rosario Moreno is receiving the Outstanding Graduate Student Award: Doctoral Level. Moreno is currently working on a Ph.D. in educational psychology/school psychology. She also received her master's degree in educational psychology from Texas Tech in 2016.

TASP is a professional organization that supports and advocates for school psychologists having a positive impact on school systems to improve academic skills, social-emotional functioning and mental-behavioral health for all students. Formed in 1993, it is a state affiliate of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
