Stakeholder acceptance of gun violence interventions
School gun violence in the United States is becoming more common. In response to this, schools are taking measures to prevent this from happening.
What is this project studying?
This study asks about your perspectives on some strategies that schools might use to prevent gun violence.
What would I do if I participate and how long will it take?
This study involves completing a survey related to school gun violence prevention that will take approximately 15-20 minutes. In addition, you will be offered an opportunity to participate in a focus group or individual interview at a later date.
How will I benefit from participating?
You will be providing the project with valuable information and you will be given the opportunity to contribute your opinion toward campus shooting prevention procedures.
Can I quit if I become uncomfortable?
Yes, absolutely. Your participation is completely voluntary. The researchers and the Institutional Review Board have reviewed the questions and think you can answer them comfortably. You may skip any question you do not feel comfortable answering. You can also stop answering questions at any time. Participating is your choice. However, we do appreciate any help you are able to provide.
How are you protecting privacy?
Your name will not be linked to any documentation and any use of this material in reports, publications or presentations will never be associated with participants in this study without permission. No one other than the researchers associated with this project will have access to the raw data. All related documentation will be stored either in a locked file cabinet in the researcher's office or on a password protected computer.
After you complete the survey, you will have the opportunity to invite other adults to complete the survey by forwarding them a link. In addition, if you have children who you would consent to completing this survey, you can direct them to a link that will provide a survey that is appropriate for their age.
