graduate Certificate in Early Music Performance Practice

This Certificate provides graduate music majors with the unique opportunity to enrich their playing, singing, arranging, and research skills in the history and performance practice of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoires—over 1000 years of music! The Certificate's core ensemble is the Collegium Musicum, which engages with all these repertoires, through the guidance of resident and guest experts, and through the SOM's own collection of unique and exotic replica instruments. The Certificate is a great complement to degree concentrations in musicology, theory, choral, or vocal/instrumental students, and provides aspiring professionals with expertise in the dynamic and expanding areas of early music scholarship and performance.
