TechGuide Ranks Rawls College Ph.D. Program No. 2 in Most Affordable in IT

The Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in MIS at the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business is recognized for its affordability among 45 other IT programs.

TechGuide, an online resource for tech-related careers and educational opportunities, ranked the Ph.D. in Business Administration Specialization in Management Information Systems at the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business No. 2 in its 2025 list of The Most Affordable Ph.D. in IT

This ranking recognizes and highlights the program’s exceptional balance of accessibility, affordability, and academic quality as TechGuide’s list showcases programs that deliver both strong educational value and rigorous academic standards. Evaluated among 45 other programs and standing out as a leader in delivering an accessible IT education, Texas Tech University was one of the first universities to establish a doctoral specialization in management information systems (MIS). At $29,700, Texas Tech’s program was identified as having the lowest cost, with the average cost being $81,071.

Mayukh Dass, senior associate dean, associate dean of graduate programs, and James L. Johnson chair in business administration says this ranking acknowledges the research accomplishments and their commitment to mentoring student researchers.
