About
Joshua (Josh) Fairbanks is an associate professor of practice in the Area of Finance
in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. His research focuses on
corporate finance, financial markets and fixed income. He has published several articles
in the Journal of Real Estate Research and recently published an article in Managerial
Finance.
Before joining Texas Tech, Fairbanks held a position at Ohio University and South
Plains College. He has a BS in economics from the University of Washington (Seattle),
an MS in economics from Texas A&M University, and a PhD from Texas Tech University.
His awards include Outstanding Student Organization Advisor of the Year (2018), Texas
Tech Alumni Association New Faculty Award (2016), Jentz Fellowship at the Graduate
School of Banking Colorado (2016), RCOB Outstanding MBA Professor (2015) and Finance
Department Teacher of the Year (2012 and 2013).
On a personal level, Fairbanks has four kids: an 8-year-old, a 6-year-old and twin
boys who are 4. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, shooting clays and working
out. He also serves as the director of the Master's in Finance Program.
