About
Debra A. Laverie is the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor. Laverie joined the marketing
faculty in 1995, upon the completion of her doctoral program at Arizona State University.
Laverie earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and an undergraduate degree
from Saint Mary’s College. She has served Texas Tech as the director of the Teaching,
Learning, Technology Center. Laverie has served as the area coordinator of marketing
and the senior associate dean of the Rawls College of Business.
Laverie's research explores the role of consumption in everyday activities, macro
issues in marketing, digital marketing and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Her research has been published in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Retailing,
Marketing Education Review, Journal of Marketing Education, Journal of Public Policy
and Marketing, Journal of Macromarketing and Journal of Consumer Behavior, as well
as others. She has been awarded The Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award, the
Academy of Marketing Science Outstanding Teacher Award and the President’s Excellence
in Teaching Award and has been recognized as Texas Tech Integrated Scholar. In addition,
she was awarded the Paper of the Year in Marketing Education Review in 2021.
