
Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends of Rawls College, we have approximately 1,000 scholarships available every year. Whether you are an incoming student, or you're already working toward your undergraduate or graduate degree, you can benefit from receiving a scholarship.
Incoming Undergraduate
First-year students and transfer students are encouraged to apply for university-level and college-level scholarships through Apply Texas or Common App. Only students admitted into Rawls College will be eligible for college-specific scholarships.
Freshman Application Deadline: December 1 for scholarships awarded for the following academic year.
Continuing Undergraduate Students
Texas Tech makes it easy to find and apply for scholarships through Scholarship Universe, our online scholarship portal. To get started, create an account and explore the
scholarships you qualify for—then complete the applications right in the portal to
be considered for university and college-level awards.

Continuing Student Application Dates: October 1 - February 1 for scholarship awarded the following academic year.
Transfer Student
Transfer students are encouraged to set up their Scholarship Universe account to be considered for college-level scholarships. Once admission to the university
and the Rawls College is confirmed, students can access Scholarship Universe and complete
the required information.
Funds for the academic year are typically allocated in full before the fall semester
begins. Spring transfer students should complete their Scholarship Universe information
for the following academic year during the Continuing Student application period.

Graduate Students
Rawls College graduate students can apply for university-level and/or college-level fellowships. At the university level, students seeking a master's degree or doctoral degree can apply through the Texas Tech Graduate School. To explore fellowships offered by Rawls College, contact the Rawls Graduate & Professional Programs office.
Departmental Scholarships
Each academic area offers additional major-specific scholarships for students.
Accounting Transfer Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to support outstanding students transferring to Rawls College and majoring in accounting. This scholarship initially awards $1,000 for a student's first semester at Texas Tech University and is renewable for one additional semester.
Initial Eligibility:
- Completed the equivalent of ACCT 2300 and 2301 (TCCNS ACCT 2301/2401 and 2302/2402) at a two-year college and earned As in both courses
- Completed at least 30 transferable hours at a two-year college with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA
- Admitted to Texas Tech University and Rawls College of Business and declared an Accounting major
- Full-time student status (at least 12 credit hours) in your first semester
- Enrollment in ACCT 3101, 3304, and 3307 in your first semester
Continuing Eligibility:
- Achieve at least a 3.5 GPA in your first semester at Texas Tech
- Full-time student status (at least 12 credit hours) in your second semester
- Enrollment in ACCT 3305 and 4300 in your second semester

Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program
The Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program is collaborating with 25 colleges and universities across the US to help provide a limited number of full scholarships (100% of tuition and academic fees will be covered excluding books and living expenses) for selected students interested in pursuing a fifth-year masters degree in accounting for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Interested students who meet the Programs eligibility criteria below are encouraged to apply to Texas Tech University's Master of Science in Accounting program to graduate in May or August of 2027 following the University's standard criteria and processes for admission, and then apply separately to be considered for the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program.
The Program scholarship recipient selection process shall be developed, coordinated, and led by an external committee of Texas Tech accounting alumni. The University represents and warrants that it shall not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, sex, ethnicity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law, in the consideration and selection of Program scholarship recipients and will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local non-discrimination laws, regulations, and executive orders.
Selection/Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled in an accredited College or University in the United States.
- Pursuing an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in accounting from an accredited program.
- Strong academic track record; minimum of 3.0 GPA (on 4.0 scale).
- Selected participants must have the ability to reside in the United States and the intention to pursue career opportunities in the United States after graduating from the University.
- Must meet the standards for admission into a Deloitte Foundation selected accredited college/university masters program in accounting.
- Have an interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and obtaining their CPA in the United States, but not presently a CPA.
Selected participants must matriculate to Texas Tech University's master's program for the duration of the 2026-2027 academic school year (either August 2025-May 2027 or January/May 2026-August 2027) and complete such program by August 2027.

Lyons School of Accounting Scholarship
The Lyons School of Accounting offers many competitive scholarships and fellowships for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student with a declared Accounting major.
- A minimum 2.75 GPA.
Application deadline: February 1 for scholarships awarded for the following academic year.

UIL State Accounting Scholarship
Initial Award: $2,000 for a student's first semester at Texas Tech
Initial Eligibility:
- One of the top six individual finishers in your conference (e.g., 1A, 2A, etc.) at the UIL State Meet in Accounting; or One of the top-three scoring members of the first-place team in your conference at the UIL State Meet in Accounting
- Admitted to Texas Tech University and Rawls College of Business as an Accounting major
- Full-time student status (at least 12 credit hours) in your first semester
Continuing Award: $2,000 for a student's second, third, and fourth semesters at Texas Tech
Continuing Eligibility:
- Achieve at least a 3.5 GPA in the preceeding semester
- Full-time student status (at least 12 credit hours) in the current semester

Finance & Real Estate Scholarship
The Area of Finance utilizes the Scholarship Universe system to manage scholarship
applications. Please use the link below to access the portal. The Area of Finance
does not have a separate application and uses the applicant pool gathered from Scholarship
Universe to make award decisions. Please ensure your account is fully set up to be
considered for Finance scholarships. If you have any questions regarding your Scholarship

If youre pursuing Excellence in Banking or Center for Real Estate certificate, youre
already on the path to being considered for competitive scholarships. Students in
these programs are automatically eligible because of the high academic standards,
leadership development, and professional engagement these certificates require.
As part of the program, youll have opportunities to get involved in student organizations,
represent your program at events, volunteer in the community, and participate in exclusive
networking experiences. These activities not only enhance your professional growth
but also reflect the qualities these scholarships are designed to reward—initiative,
professionalism, and a strong commitment to your industry.

Energy Commerce
Energy Commerce utilizes the Scholarship Universe system to manage scholarship applications. Please use the link below to access the portal. To be eligible, students must be Energy Commerce majors and have completed or be currently enrolled in Energy Industry Fundamentals (ENCO 3301).

Rawls College of Business San Antonio Veterans Scholarship
Requirements:
Open to Freshmen, sophomore, junior, and graduate business students with a minimum
3.25 GPA. Preference is given to Veteran or Active Duty military. Preference is given
to students from the San Antonio area.

Selection Process

Scholarship recipients are selected through a competitive process that considers merit or financial need, major or field of interest, community involvement, career goals, leadership skills, and/or membership in student organizations.
Notification of Awards

Students selected to receive a college-level scholarship will be notified through Scholarship Universe. All information and requirements for accepting scholarships will be housed within the online platform.
Financial Aid
FAFSA
In addition to your scholarship application, students are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student (FAFSA). Many, but not all, Rawls College scholarships include financial need as a selection criterion.
Students should apply by February 15 for fall entry and November 15 for spring entry.
Texas Application for State Financial Aid
Students classified as a Texas Resident, who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA, are encouraged to complete the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). The TASFA is used to determine eligibility for state financial aid programs that are administered by Texas institutions of higher education.
Students should apply by January 15 each year.
