Aaron Hegert

Aaron Hegert is an artist working in photographic and digital media. His projects aim to contribute to conversations about images, technology, and power; with a particular emphasis on how images shape the way we understand human/nature relationships. Collaboration is a central aspect of Professors Hegert's practice, and he is a an active member in a number of artist collectives and organizations, (Everything Is Collective, Co-Opt Research and Projects, and the Tablelands Center for Bioregional Art). At TTU he leads courses in photography at all levels, teaching a range of hard skills, along with thematic research topics such as Collaborative Art Making, The Art and Science of Ecological Restoration, Landscape Encounters, The Production of Space, and The Image Complex.

Hegert holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute (2007), and MFA from Indiana University (2014), and he is a Fulbright Scholar (Paris 2008). His work has been exhibited and published widely, with recent exhibitions at the International Center of Photography in New York, The Wilhelm Hack Museum in Mannheim, the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Aperture Foundation, among others. His publications are held in The Joan Flasch Artists Book Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Franklin Furnace Archive in Brooklyn, and the Museum of Modern Art Library in New York City.
