Dionne Lee in conversation with Aaron Hegert

Dionne Lee (b. 1988, New York, NY) works in photography, collage, and video to explore power, survival, and personal history in relation to the American landscape. Dionne received an MFA from California College of the Arts in 2017. Lives and works in Columbus, Ohio and is an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University. Lee has exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Contemporary Art Gallery (Vancouver), Yancey Richardson, Aperture Foundation in New York City, New Orleans Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Princeton University Art Museum, and the San Francisco Arts Commission, among others. Lee was an Artist-in-Residence at the Chinati Foundation, Unseen California, and Land Arts of the American West between 2022-2023. Lee will participate in the 81st Whitney Biennial opening to the public on March 20, 2024, in New York. Presented in collaboration with the Huckabee College of Architecture, Land Arts of the American West,  and CO-OPt Research + Projects.

Caddo artist Chase Earles works in a traditional pottery method using hand-coiled clay that is wild harvested and hand-processed to form his vessels. Vessels are hand-burnished, decorated with scrolling designs and finally pit fired.  During his residency, in addition to providing artist talks to Levelland High School students, Earles will provide a 2-day hand-building workshop for TTU students and Lubbock area ceramists at the LHUCA Clay Studio in advance of the Texas Ceramics Symposium and conduct a pit-firing session during the final day of the Symposium.
