Digital Arts Computer Lab
The Transmedia area in the School of Art offers a focused, ethical, and an interdisciplinary approach to digital arts. Students who choose this emphasis direct their studies using a mixture of three primary areas: Video, 2d animation or 3d animation. Transmedia addresses the narrative nature of lens and timed based media, and guides students in developing their own ethically based storytelling process. Courses cover techniques and software in addition to seeking new approaches to idea development and project planning, toward envisioning new worlds, new values, new stories.
Digital Arts Computer Lab Highlights
The Transmedia Computer Lab offers students several high-powered computers that can be used for a wide variety of digital art workflows. This includes video editing, digital photography, digital painting, 2D and 3D animations. Several courses are taught in this space ranging from Technology in the Arts, 2D animation, 3D modeling, to more advanced courses such as Non-Fiction Narrative Filmmaking. In this lab, students can utilize large Cintiq displays for 2D animation projects. They can take advantage of powerful Alienware PCs to render projects out of 3D software. The lab also has an audio booth if students need a space to record and edit for sound, video, or animation projects.
