Why Portuguese?

Portuguese is spoken by approximately 258 million people worldwide. It is the 9th most widely spoken language. TTU offers Portuguese literature courses, and a graduate minor in Portuguese. Spanish speakers tend to learn Portuguese quickly, and knowing Portuguese gives them access to the literature and cultures of Portugal, Brazil, Macau, Goa, Angola, Venezuela, and Mozambique.
