Applied Linguistics Program

Why Applied Linguistics?

Though not a language itself, students who study Applied Linguistics learn about how people learn a second language and the best ways to teach second languages. Students who study Applied Linguistics often go on to teach foreign languages in secondary schools in the United States or to teach English as a Second Language locally or abroad. Students at TTU may take undergraduate courses in Applied Linguistics and/or choose to pursue a master's degree in Languages & Cultures with a concentration in Applied Linguistics. We also offer a fully online graduate certificate in Teaching Second Languages in Local and Global Contexts.
