Call for Papers, panels and Creative Projects 

Here you will find a call for papers, panels, creative work presentations, etc.  The submission deadline is March 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at https://shorturl.at/gbAXN.  Please contact kent.wilkinson@ttu.edu  with any questions.

We invite proposals and completed work for panel sessions, workshops, and presentations on themes related to Hispanic/Latinx populations, issues, etc. Please submit a title and a 250-word (maximum) abstract of the panel, workshop, or paper you would like to present. It may be current research or creative work which you have conducted within the past two years, whether published or not. International and intercultural projects are welcome so long as they are connected to U.S. Hispanic/Latinx issues. Collaborative work is welcome. Additionally, we plan to organize at least one panel featuring work by graduate students and at least one other featuring undergraduate students. Please indicate if you want your proposal to be considered for either special session. 

Call for Undergraduate Student Creative Work

You will also find a call for undergraduate student work for Orgullo y Poder (Pride & Power) and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Essay Contest co-sponsored by the Harris Institute, TTU Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiatives, and the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures. 

First, second and third place scholarship prizes will be awarded at the Hispanic/Latinx Research & Creativity Symposium keynote address on Tuesday, April 15, 12:30-1:45 p.m. (recipient students must be currently enrolled). 

Orgullo y Poder (Pride & Power) - Undergraduate student artists of all backgrounds are invited to help us display how YOU showcase your sense of Hispanic/Latinx "Orgullo y Poder." This year's theme is "We the people," with emphases on acceptance, power and pride in our communities. Any form of tangible art may be submitted, initially via photo or video. Please contact lucinda.l.holt@ttu.edu with any questions.

Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Essay Contest - To center undergraduates' lived experience on our HSI campus, we want to hear from you! Undergraduate student writers of all backgrounds are encouraged to submit essays of no more that 1000 words outlining what the HSI designation means to them as well as their vision for a truly Hispanic-serving campus.
