Texas Tech University's Educational Leadership (EDLD) program has earned full institutional membership in the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA).

The national accreditation provides new research and professional development opportunities for students, and it is recognition of the program's overall quality, said Joe Claudet, associate professor of educational leadership.

"Our Educational Leadership faculty and graduate students look forward to supporting the UCEA mission by continuing our efforts in researching and addressing essential problems of schooling, improving the preparation of educational leaders and shaping education policies that can benefit diverse populations of learners," Claudet said.

To become accredited, institutions go through a rigorous, months-long program review. Nationally, 115 colleges and universities have either full or associate UCEA membership.
