Robert Don Collier was Managing Partner of Meadows, Collier, Reed, Cousins, Crouch & Ungerman, LLP in Dallas, Texas. He was Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was named by The Best Lawyers in America as the 2014–2015 Litigation and Controversy – Tax Lawyer of the Year for Dallas. With more than 40 years of experience in federal tax planning and litigation matters, his practice involved federal tax litigation and planning matters for families and their related businesses. He was the senior briefing attorney for Keller, Kimbell, and Adams, three precedent-setting United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals cases involving complex estate-tax issues and difficult factual situations. He and other members of the firm represented Texas Tech University in the federal case of Estate of Proctor. The U.S. Tax Court decision in Estate of Proctor established that Texas Tech was the owner of a 60,000-acre Texas Panhandle ranch under a contested charitable devise. His tax clients have utilized his knowledge of their businesses and financial matters for assistance in other areas. For many years, he represented one of his significant tax clients in various aspects of the real estate timeshare business. Working with other members of the client's legislative team, he was a major participant in the drafting and enactment of the 2013 Texas Timeshare Owners' Association Act, the 2006 Texas Timeshare Act, the 2009 Massachusetts Real Estate Timeshare Act, and numerous timeshare-related bills in other states.
