Texas Tech University School of Law is thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2026 at our Hooding Ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. This special tradition honors the accomplishments of our graduates while also recognizing the families and friends who have supported them every step of the way. We look forward to sharing in the joy of this milestone and creating lasting memories together.

• No tickets required. Seating is open and first-come, first-served.
• The ceremony lasts about 1.5 hours.
• A livestream link will be posted here on the day of the event.
• Regalia required: graduates must wear full regalia (cap, gown, and law hood). Hooding attorneys must also wear regalia (gown and law hood).
• Families are encouraged to book hotels early, as Lubbock is especially busy during graduation weekend. 

Travel & Stay 

Graduation weekend is one of the busiest times of the year in Lubbock, and we encourage families to plan ahead to make the most of this special occasion:

• Reserve hotel rooms early. Accommodations fill quickly—find more information at Visit Lubbock.
• Plan a celebration dinner. The Hooding Ceremony typically lasts about 1.5 hours, giving you plenty of time afterward to enjoy dinner and celebrate together.

A Day of Celebration

The Hooding Ceremony is one of Texas Tech Law’s favorite traditions—a time to honor years of hard work and to look ahead to the bright futures awaiting our graduates.

• Law School Open House: Beginning at 10:00 a.m., graduates and guests are welcome to tour the Law School building.
• Reception: A celebratory reception will be hosted at the Law School before the ceremony (details to come). Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and the event offers graduates, families, faculty, and staff a chance to celebrate together.
• Hooding Ceremony: Saturday, May 16, 2026, 6:00 p.m., at the United Supermarkets Arena.

United Supermarkets Arena Information

• Doors open one hour before the ceremony.
• Guests must bring a clear bag or leave belongings in vehicles.
• Concealed handguns are prohibited; the arena is an exclusionary zone during commencement.
• The arena is smoke- and vape-free.
• Concessions will not be available during the ceremony.
• Graduates will process east to west across the stage.

Parking

• The Law School R21 lot (Indiana Avenue and Texas Tech Parkway) will be open for graduates and guests. Please enter via Hartford Avenue and inform the parking attendant you are attending the Law School Hooding Ceremony.
• Additional parking is available in the lots surrounding the United Supermarkets Arena. Attendants will be present to help direct traffic.

Accessibility

• Disability parking is available at both the Law School R21 lot and on the west side of the United Supermarkets Arena.
• Parking attendants will direct guests to accessible spaces.

Photography & Livestream

• Livestream: Tune in live on the Texas Tech University Livestream page on the day of the ceremony.
• Professional Photography: Candid Color Photography will capture photos of each graduate during the ceremony. Proofs will be emailed directly to graduates, with full photos available for purchase.
• Personal Photos: Guests are welcome to take photos from their seats, but are asked not to block aisles.
