Texas Tech Law offers five student-run journals: the Texas Tech Law Review, Estate Planning & Community Property Law Journal, Journal for Technology, Law & Science, Journal of the Energy Law  Practitioner, and Texas Bank Lawyer.

Membership in most student-run journals are selected based upon annual "Write-On" competitions held for first-year students in the spring semester. Law journal student members edit articles, provide comments, and/or assist in the publishing process for their respective journals. Journal membership is a prestigious opportunity for students at Tech Law to take advantage of.

Texas Tech Law Review

Founded in 1970, the Texas Tech Law Review is published quarterly by the students of Texas Tech University School of Law. Selection for membership in the Texas Tech Law Review is an honor that follows students throughout their legal careers.

The Texas Tech Law Review's audience includes students and professors at law schools, attorneys, and judges throughout Texas and the United States. The Law Review accepts and publishes articles by prominent legal scholars and practitioners concerning various state, national, and international legal issues.

Estate Planning & Community Property Law Journal

Established in 2008, the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal is the only legal journal of its kind committed to community property law, and the second in the nation devoted to estate planning. This student-led publication publishes scholarly articles written by national and international experts in the fields of estate planning, community property, and related legal topics. The Journal also contains outstanding student comments.

In its first year of publication, the Journal won the Texas Bar Foundation's Outstanding Law Review Article Award and won it a second time in 2016.

The Journal's audience includes practicing attorneys, judges, law professors, law students, and others, both nationally and internationally. With the aforementioned goals in mind, the Journal actively seeks and selects articles, essays, symposium pieces, and comments that are at the forefront of critical legal thinking in these important areas of the law. The Journal is available in print on a semi-annual basis and is accessible online via Westlaw.

Each year, the Journal sponsors a stunning symposium featuring well-known attorneys, judges, and academics from around the state and nation. This symposium gives Journal members a tremendous opportunity to network with the elite members of the estate planning community.

Journal for Technology, Law & Society

This Journal publishes law review articles on any aspect of technology, law & society with a mission to examine and analyze emerging technology law issues across all areas of law including Constitutional law, contract law, tort law, employment law, criminal law, criminal procedure, environmental law, space law, nanotechnology law, biotechnology law, intellectual property law, etc. The Journal is an official Journal of Texas Tech University School of Law. Articles are accepted on a rolling basis, and one electronic  volume is published annually in the spring/summer.

Journal of the Energy Law Practitioner

The Journal of the Energy Law Practitioner (JELP), which was founded in 2022, is published online two times each year. 

JELP is committed to the publication of impactful energy-related articles by knowledgeable scholars and practicing attorneys in the field, as well as emerging scholars and attorneys, who will advance discussion and analysis of timely issues in energy law. It is also the goal of this journal to sustain and strengthen Texas Tech University School of Law's energy-law program, in order to cultivate legal expertise in this field and develop critical learning for all its members.

Texas Bank Lawyer

The Texas Bank Lawyer is a monthly newsletter written and edited by Texas Tech law students and read by over 1,100 attorneys nationwide. The Texas Bank Lawyer is published as a cooperative effort of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel (TABC) and the Texas Tech University School of Law. The TABC was founded in 1976 with the purpose of creating an association in which knowledge and information about legal problems unique to banks could be shared. The Texas Bank Lawyer contributes greatly by providing summaries of recent cases and regulatory matters of interest to bank lawyers, articles on new legislation or developing legal areas, and occasional editorial comments on banking and commercial matters.
