Mark Lanier '84
Distinguished AlumniAttorney, author, teacher, pastor, and storyteller Mark Lanier graduated from Texas Tech Law in 1984. With offices in Houston, New York, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma City, he has earned international recognition setting record verdicts in courtrooms throughout the United States. Mark was inducted into the National Trial Lawyers' Hall of Fame and twice named National Trial Lawyers Association's Trial Lawyer of the Year. He was honored with the American Association of Justice's Lifetime Achievement Award and selected as the 2018 Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year by The National Law Journal. Mark holds three honorary doctorates and was given the Ambassador of Peace award by the Guatemalan government. He received the 2005 Distinguished Alumnus award from the School of Law and from Texas Tech University in 2016. Mark founded the Lanier Theological Library, one of the nation's largest theological collections. He teaches biblical literacy, weekly, to thousands. Organizer of the Christian Trial Lawyers Association, Mark is published in both legal and theological arenas and has three books and two movies among his works.
