Ginger Pearson Nelson

Ginger Pearson Nelson graduated with bachelor's degrees in both advertising and Spanish from Texas Tech University in 1992, and went on to earn her J.D. from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 1995.

As mayor of Amarillo, Nelson has collaborated with Texas Tech University to establish the newly opened Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine, the state's first veterinary school in more than a century.

As a board-certified lawyer in estate planning and probate for more than 20 years, Nelson has received numerous legal honors throughout her career, including a prestigious AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review, a rating that signifies the lawyer's peers rate the recipient at the highest level of professional excellence.

She and her husband Kevin, a fellow Red Raider, have practiced law together since 2004, and branched out into commercial property management in 2011. In 2014, they expanded their business to include real estate development, constructing franchise hotel locations in Amarillo and Lubbock.

Nelson has served in numerous leadership roles in Amarillo, including leadership roles in the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, the Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association, and the Amarillo Area Bar Association. She is currently on the board of directors at Happy State Bank, and has served on numerous local children's and school organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America.

Nelson and her husband have three children, Madeleine, Pearse and Jace, and attend Hillside Christian Church where she serves as a volunteer.
