Bret Hendricks named College of Education associate dean

Bret Hendricks has been named the new associate dean for academic and student affairs in the Texas Tech University College of Education.

Hendricks currently serves as professor and program coordinator in the Counselor Education Program in the College of Education. In the newly created associate dean role, Hendricks will also aid in administrative work related to undergraduate issues and help facilitate student, staff and student processes such as academic program accreditation and scholarship awards.

"I think the College of Education is moving in exciting directions and I'm honored to be part of the college leadership team," Hendricks said.

A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS) in Texas, Hendricks is a former president of the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC) and the Texas Counseling Association (TCA).

Hendricks serves on the editorial board of The Family Journal: Counseling and Therapy for Couples and Families, the official academic journal of IAMFC.

He has received numerous outstanding service awards from counseling associations and was inducted into the Texas Tech Teaching Academy in 2014 in recognition of his excellence in teaching.

Hendricks earned his doctorate in counselor education from Texas Tech University.
