Dr. Zinab Elhagrasey Muñoz (hear her name)  is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Educational Psychology, Leadership, & Counseling. With over 16 years of experience in the field of education, Dr. Muñoz is an expert in teacher and principal training, data-driven school leadership, strategic educational partnerships and higher education recruitment. She has established a proven track record of driving transformative educational initiatives that enhance educational outcomes across diverse populations.

Dr. Muñoz joined the College of Education in 2014 as a lecturer in the department of Teacher Education. She served as one of the founding Site Coordinators for the TechTeach teacher education program in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Over the past decade, Dr. Muñoz spearheaded institutional partnerships with community colleges and school districts in the DFW area, developing innovative and sustainable educator pathways and recruiting over 500 Red Raider educators for the Dallas, Grand Prairie and Fort Worth Independent School Districts and Uplift Academies in Dallas.

Dr. Muñoz earned her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from TTU in 2017. Since then, she has taught as an adjunct instructor and served on dissertation committees in the Department of Educational Psychology, Leadership, & Counseling. Dr. Muñoz accepted her full-time position of Assistant Professor of Practice of Educational Leadership in the Department in 2024. Her research interests are focused on nurturing successful school leaders that are committed to elevating the quality of education and life in diverse communities through strategic, data-driven planning and innovative approaches.

Prior to joining Texas Tech University, Dr. Muñoz served in the Irving Independent School District as a principal, assistant principal and bilingual, gifted and talented elementary teacher.
