Mychele Jorns is a born and raised Lubbockite. She attended Texas Tech University for her undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemistry from 2013-2017 and 2020-2024. During her time in graduate school, she worked in the analytical chemistry department performing research into the synthesis and characterization of luminescent carbon-based nanoparticles for cancer cell imaging and targeting. She taught and managed undergraduate chemistry lab courses including general chemistry, analytical chemistry, and instrumental analytical chemistry. Her love for research and all things chemistry led to multiple scientific publications and achieving the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for upper-division chemistry.

She recently joined the EHS team as the Chemical Hygiene Officer where she strives to apply her knowledge in chemistry and history with this amazing university to help further the awareness and development of chemical safety. Family is very important to Mychele and spends all of her free time with her husband, Chris, and son, Peter.
