Shop and Studio Safety Header

Machine shops, maker spaces and art studio spaces present unique hazards distinct from those in laboratories or other work environments. These hazards include but are not limited to machine guarding, electrical safety, ladder/fall protection, crane/hoist safety  and hazardous communication

At Texas Tech University the Department of Environmental Health and Safety manages and seeks to reduce risks of physical work performed on campus through the process of work area risk assessment and development of a Work Area Safety Plan (WASP). University programs are designed to to protect the health and safety of all employees and to comply with the requirements of applicable Federal, State and Local regulations. For assistance in completing a WASP please contact our Occupational Safety section at 742-3876.
