“Peoples of the World: Works on Paper” Call for Entries

 

Art Exhibit at the Texas Tech International Cultural Center
Submission Deadline: May 8, 2023 

Texas Tech International Affairs is now accepting work for the “Peoples of the World: Works on Paper” art exhibit to be displayed in the International Cultural Center galleries on the Texas Tech University campus. Submission deadline for entries is May 8, 2023

Subject Matter 

This exhibit will celebrate the diversity of cultures around the world through images of individuals in their traditional clothing and environments. Exploring these photographs encourages us to become world travelers and learn about the cultures that created them. Artists of all levels are invited to submit works on paper reflecting the international peoples theme of this exhibit.

Eligibility

The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older. Artwork submitted must not have been previously exhibited in Lubbock in the past calendar year. Entrants warrant that they have the copyright to all submitted work. 

There is no entry fee. Up to four entries can be submitted. 

Specifications

  • All work must include an image of a person in an international environment.
  • All work must original and on paper. 
  • All work must be two-dimensional and it must not exceed 1/4” thickness in order to fit in the gallery frames.
  • Eligible mediums include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and photography. 
  • If your work is selected for the gallery exhibit, it should be mounted in a pure white mat. The outside dimensions should be 16” X 20” in order to fit in the frames. Frames will be provided by Texas Tech International Affairs for the gallery exhibit.

How To Submit Your Artwork

1. Complete the fillable entry form found on the TTU International Affairs website

2. To submit, attach the completed form and a photo (1-5 MB) of each piece of art to an email and send it to oia.exhibits@ttu.edu

3. Label each photo with consecutive numbers followed by the title/location of the image and your name (e.g., (1) Samba Dancer – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Jane Doe (2) Beefeater Guard – London, England - Jane Doe). The photo should be in JPEG format. It will be used to determine selections for the gallery exhibit. 

4. Make sure that numbers and titles on the form match those on the files.

5. All entry forms must be received at International Affairs by May 8, 2023

Notification for Gallery Exhibit

1. If one of your pieces is selected for the gallery exhibit, you will be notified by May 15.

2. All pieces for the gallery exhibit must be in a pure white mat. The outside dimensions should be 16”X20”. Any work which, upon receipt, is deemed to have been misrepresented by the digital image, or to be of poor quality, may be omitted by International Affairs.

4. Include a check payable to TTU International Affairs for return postage at the conclusion of exhibit unless you plan to pick up your work. Artwork will be returned in the container in which they were received. Artwork WITHOUT postage will not be returned.

Reproduction 

International Affairs of Texas Tech University will have the right to display, project and reproduce selected work for exhibition, marketing, and promotional purposes only. Photographers retain copyrights to their individual works. 

Liability 

International Affairs of Texas Tech University will exercise due care in handling the artwork, but will not be responsible for loss, damage, or replacement during selection, exhibit, or shipping.
