Global Exchange Research Seed Grant Guidelines and Template

  1. Use the application template below to apply.
  2. Exchange seed grants open to full-time tenure track and non-tenure track faculty.
  3. Identify at least one external Request for Proposal (RFP) that the supported work will enable you to apply for within the following year. RFPs for any sum will be acceptable, depending on the standards within the applicant's field. Work with TTU IA's International Grants and Partnerships unit to develop and submit the grant proposal.
  4. Funds must be transferred to departmental accounts and expended by August 31, 2025 for One-Way Seed Grants and December 31, 2025 for Faculty-Exchange Seed Grants.
  5. Submit proposals electronically to Michael Johnson.
  6. Consult with the appropriate contact in your Dean’s Office for any additional internal requirements/guidelines.
  7. A final report is due upon project completion.

One-Way Seed Grants

Submit electronically as PDF files to Michael Johnson by COB January 15, 2025, together with the signatures of the Department Chair(s) or Center Director(s).

Funds requested (up to $3,500):  (Provide a detailed budget with breakdown of proposed expenses. Acceptable expenses include: visiting international universities or research institutions for research purposes, meeting with current or prospective international collaborators, developing a research proposal, and developing an engaged scholarship project with international partners. Grantees will be required to provide a list of outcomes and goals after the visit by September 30, 2025. 

Faculty who have not previously won a TTU International Affairs Seed Grant will be prioritized.

Projects including one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals will be prioritized, as will applications with engaged scholarship projects.

Faculty Exchange Grants

Reciprocal Exchange (up to 250 words): (Provide a proposed travel plan detailing the TTU researcher outgoing visit and the incoming international researcher visit.)

Funds requested (up to $8,000): (Provide a detailed budget with breakdown of proposed  expenses. Acceptable expenses include: visiting international universities or research institutions for research purposes, meeting with current or prospective international collaborators, developing a research proposal, and developing an engaged scholarship project with international partners. Grantees will be required to provide a list of outcomes and goals after the visit by January 31, 2026. 

Faculty who have not previously won a TTU International Affairs Seed Grant will be prioritized.
