Karen Brand graduated from Texas Tech Law with Honors after completing an undergraduate degree in Finance. After graduation, she went to work for the Legal Department of Phillips Petroleum Company. Karen lived in a variety of places in both foreign and domestic locations, including her last assignment in Perth, Australia. In this role, she was responsible for all legal matters in her geographical area, including human resource issues, ensuring corporate compliance of 40+ affiliates, finalizing contracts, joint venture negotiations, and extensive legal work for Bayu-Undan involving the constructing an offshore gas recycle development, a 500 km offshore pipeline, and an LNG plant. Karen took early retirement in 2003. During her exciting and distinguished career, she negotiated with the United Nations, participated in international arbitrations, and finalized three international unitizations.
