John '74 & Charlotte Huffaker

 

John and Charlotte have been enthusiastic supporters of many different initiatives at the Law School, including the John T. Huffaker and Sprouse Shrader Smith Endowed Scholarship, Huffaker Attorneys Endowed Scholarship in Memory of W. C. Huffaker, Jr. and Gerald Huffaker, and the Waggoner Blair Endowed Scholarship for the Study of Agricultural Law.
 
Before his retirement, John held the position of Vice Chancellor and General Counsel within the Texas Tech University System. In this capacity, he provided legal guidance to the TTU System and its various institutions.
 
Prior to joining the TTU System, John worked as an attorney and a shareholder at the Amarillo law firm of Sprouse Shrader Smith, P.C. His practice areas included agricultural law, bankruptcy, banking, commercial litigation, and employment law. He is also board-certified in civil trial law.
 
Both John and Charlotte obtained their bachelor's degrees from Texas Tech University in 1970. John also earned his law degree from Texas Tech in 1974, where he served as the editor-in-chief of the Law Review.
 
John served on the TTU System Board of Regents and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2009.
