The Texas Tech University's J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts School of Music's Ensemble Bravura proves they're not ready for winter just yet by announcing their second concert of the 2019-2020 season: Appalachian Spring on November 15, 2019.

Ensemble Bravura will present Appalachian Spring under the direction of Philip Mann, Director of Orchestral Studies. The first half of the program will start with clarinetist, conductor, Grammy Award-winning recording producer, record label executive, orchestra artistic planner, and composer Michael Fine's Serenade for Strings. Eric Stocklossa, newly appointed Associate Professor of Voice at the School of Music that enjoys a prolific international career in the leading opera houses, prominent music festivals and concert halls will be the soloist for Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915, op. 24. The program will close with a concert performance of Copland's Appalachian Spring, the 13-instruments version.

Appalachian Spring is a ballet that first debuted in 1944 and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for music in 1945. Centering around a young farm couple's relationship, Appalachian Spring shows the celebration of their wedding, but darkens to show their fear of what the future holds. However, it ends with the couple knowing they'll be able to face those challenges together and with the help of their community.

The concert will take place at 7:30pm on Friday, November 15th at Hemmle Recital Hall located in the School of Music (2624 W 18th Street – Lubbock, Tx 79409). This event is free and open to the public.
