Dr. Alan Zabriskie is Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Music at Texas Tech University, where he leads the University Choir and cultivates the next generation of choral artists through his work with graduate and undergraduate conductors. He also serves as Artistic Director of the Lubbock Chorale, guiding a vibrant community of singers in performances that celebrate both artistic excellence and shared human expression.
Equally at home on the concert stage and in the classroom, Zabriskie has shaped a career defined by expressive programming and collaborative artistry. His ensembles have appeared at national and regional conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Missouri Music Educators Association, as well as in multiple performances at Carnegie Hall including an upcoming one in April 2027. These appearances reflect a commitment to repertoire that resonates deeply with both singers and audiences.
A passionate advocate for the connective power of choral music, Zabriskie has led honor choirs, festivals, and residencies across the United States and internationally throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. Recent projects include a Baltic tour with the University Choir in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, another in Mexico, and a teaching residency in Kampala, Uganda.
Before joining the faculty at Texas Tech, he served for seven years as Director of Choral Activities at the University of Central Missouri and began his career teaching middle and high school choir in the Clark County School District. He holds degrees from Florida State University, Brigham Young University, and the University of Utah.
