Julia Bell

Dr. Julia Bell is Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Texas Tech University and a member of the Magnolia
Brass Quintet. Active in commissioning and performing new music, Bell regularly presents
solo and chamber performances featuring contemporary works. Her recent solo appearances
include a recital of twenty-first century works for trumpet and electronics at the
2024 National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Conference, as
well as performances in the New Works Recitals at both the International Womens Brass
Conference and International Trumpet Guild Conference.
Bell has appeared as a soloist with the Mantzaros Philharmonic (Corfu, Greece) and
has performed with orchestras including the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Steamboat
Symphony Orchestra, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Panama City Symphony Orchestra, Northwest
Florida Symphony Orchestra, Mediterranean Opera Festival Orchestra, and Miami Music
Festival Orchestra.
Bell has presented masterclasses and recitals nationally and internationally and has
performed and presented clinics at conferences including the Texas Music Educators
Association Convention, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors
Conference, International Trumpet Guild Conference, and International Womens Brass
Conference, where she also serves on the Board of Directors.
Bell holds degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (BM) and Florida
State University (MM and DM). Her primary trumpet teachers have included Christopher
Moore, John Rommel, Edmund Cord, and Kris Kwapis.
Bell is an S.E. Shires Artist.
