String studies at the Texas Tech School of Music emphasize preparation for careers in professional orchestra, chamber music, and solo engagements, as well as preparing students for success as pedagogues in public schools and universities. Students choose this first-class, Tier-One research institution, for the artistic and pedagogical strength of its faculty as well as its performance opportunities within and outside of the University.

- Two orchestras, the University Symphony Orchestra (USO), and Sinfonietta
- A thriving chamber music program featuring diverse repertoire and instrumentation
- Tech Folk Orchestra, Early Music, Balkan, Tango, and Mariachi Ensemble
- Other pportunities with music-related skills such as our state-of the art recording studio, and music library.

- Teaching Assistantships are available to select Graduate students, giving many TA’s valuable pedagogical experience at the university level.
