Construction Projects

Construction on Akron Avenue will begin Monday, May 19, 2025, and proceed in two phases (see map below). Expect traffic disruptions in the area. 

Phase I (May 19-June 21, 2025) 

• Location: Akron Avenue, from north of 15th Street to the Akron-Broadway intersection. 
• Impact: 
  • This section of Akron will be fully closed to traffic. 
  • Memorial Circle inbound and outbound traffic will use the north side (westbound lanes) of Broadway. 
• Action: Use alternate routes and allow extra travel time. 

Phase II (June 22-July 28, 2025) 

• Location: Construction shifts to the northern portion of the Akron - Broadway intersection. 
• Impact: 
  • Akron Avenue from 15th Street to Broadway reopens. 
  • Northbound access to Akron Avenue via Broadway will be closed. 
  • Access to north Akron remains available via Glenna Goodacre Boulevard. 
  • Memorial Circle inbound and outbound traffic will use the south side (eastbound lanes) of Broadway. 
• Action: Use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
