Summer Parking
With a small student population on campus in the summers, more of campus becomes available for parking. Two options are available.
Summer Surface
A summer permit for surface parking lots is called a summer surface permit because it allows the permit holder to park in multiple surface parking areas:
-
- Any residence hall or commuter surface (not garage) space weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Any park-and-pay area for free after 5:30 p.m.
- Rec Center parking for free (time limit of two hours)
Summer Garage
A summer garage permit provides guaranteed covered parking in the Flint Avenue Parking Facility, so vehicles stay shaded and cooler during Lubbock's 100-degree days. It allows the permit holder to park in the following areas:
-
- Flint Avenue Parking Garage spaces weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Avoid the employee reserved spaces found on the east half of the first floor and marked with signs stating "Reserved for Permit (#)"
- Avoid the fourth floor, which is uncovered
- Any residence hall or commuter space weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Any park-and-pay area for free after 5:30 p.m.
- Rec Center parking for free (time limit of two hours)
- Flint Avenue Parking Garage spaces weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Rules to Remember
Please note that employees are on duty in the summer, so the following rules are in still in effect:
- Avoid parking in area reserved and reserved spaces until 5:30 p.m.
- Employees maintain normal business hours and operations during the summer months even when class is not in session and are required to park in their lots
- Watch for signs and avoid parking in R19 and service vehicle spaces found within residence
hall lots
- These spaces allow maintenance, housing, and hospitality workers access to their facilities
- Only employee permits, service vehicles, and authorized visitors may drive past the entry stations and into the campus core weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Costs
Students can purchase a summer surface or summer garage permit for Summer I, Summer II, or the full summer. (See rates.) Employees who purchase a commuter permit for the fall and spring instead of an area reserved or reserved space permit may also purchase a summer permit if summer parking is needed.
