Texas Tech University

Become a Rawls Student

Application

The Rawls College of Business does not require a separate application – complete an application for the university and select one of our majors as your first choice.

Program Requirements

Admission to Texas Tech University does not guarantee acceptance to a business major in the Rawls College of Business. Business is a restricted program and students must meet certain criteria to be eligible to begin studies at the Rawls College upon admission to the university.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

All new, incoming students (both first time in college and transfer students) to Texas Tech University who wish to start as a business major must be TSI compliant.

First Time in College

Students who apply and provide an ACT or SAT score must meet the assured admission criteria for the University.

Students who apply test-optional will go through a holistic review process to determine admission to the business major.

Class Rank ACT SAT
Top 10% No minimum Required
First Quarter 24 1180
Second Quarter 26 1240
Third Quarter 27 1280
Fourth Quarter Application Review

Transfer Students

Students transferring from another institution must have a 2.75 GPA or higher on hours taken at any college or university (a minimum of 15 credit hours).

Effective for the Fall 2022 entry term, transfer students must also have completed MATH 1331 (TCCNS MATH 1325) with a grade of C or higher.

What if I don't meet the criteria outlined above?

Any student who does not meet the program requirements outlined above will work with eXplore Advising in the Explore Business & Industry designation. From there, students will need to meet the transfer requirements for current TTU students (below).

Current Texas Tech Students

Students requesting permission to transfer from another college at Texas Tech must have a minimum cumulative 2.75 TTU GPA and have completed 15 credit hours at TTU.

If you meet these requirements, you need to schedule an appointment with a Rawls College advisor. We recommend scheduling a meeting before registration begins, as advising appointments fill up quickly.
