MFA in Sculpture with a Certificate in Biotechnology, Texas Tech University 

Gabriel Peralta is a multidisciplinary artist who works primarily in sculpture and installation-based projects. Their work explores the emergence of the individual self from ecological and social entanglements, and reimagines animal/plant/material bodies as sites for collaborative meaning-making. They compress and fragment ready-made objects and raw materials into evocative forms that question the notions of singular origin and linear histories.

Duties

As Lead Technician in the Art Shop, Gabriel oversees the 3D Annex’s woodworking area and 3D print lab, conducts shop safety training, and assists students in the use of specialized equipment to realize various technical objectives. They also work closely with Project Manager, Victoria Shields, in helping build furniture, storage, or display systems for the School of Art and the Landmark Gallery.
