DIGITAL NARRATIVE ARTS EMPHASIS

BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS IN TRANSMEDIA DIGITAL NARRATIVE ARTS EMPHASIS (FORMERLY TRANSMEDIA)

The Digital Narrative Arts Emphasis in the School of Art offers students an interdisciplinary approach to digital arts and moving images. With conceptual, aesthetic, and technical instruction, students complete assignments and projects involving various time-based media approaches, such as video, 2D animation, and 3D animation. Students are also encouraged to integrate photography, illustration, and other experimental techniques into their workflow.

Classes incorporate lectures, demonstrations, screenings, workshops, and exercises. This emphasis allows students to be as focused or broad in their class choices as their career goals. A students could concentrate their studies anywhere along the continuum from fine art photography to moving images (video, 2D animation, and 3D animation) or they could broadly investigate all these media.

Program Highlights

Transmedia also addresses the narrative nature of lens-based mediums and guides students in developing their own voice and storytelling process. Our courses will teach students to use industry-standard software and effective project planning in addition to seeking new approaches to video, animation, and moving image production. In their final year, students will have an opportunity to develop and produce their degree projects, which reflect a culmination of what they have learned in their years of study.
