Member at Large
Shelby Frazier
Classification: Senior
Major: Energy Commerce in the Rawls College of Business
Hometown: The Woodlands, Texas
Career Goals: I aspire to work for an energy company, either as a Landman or within their midstream group.
Favorite Aspect of being a Bayless Mentor: Being a member of the Bayless Mentoring Program has been my greatest highlight, and the most rewarding volunteer experience I have had while attending Texas Tech. When I first started, I was unaware of what to expect or how much of an impact we, as mentors, could actually have. The students' appreciation for the smallest acts of kindness remind you to never take anything for granted and to always stay lighthearted. I often wish I could do more, but I have come to realize that simply providing a source of friendship and support is often more than enough.
Lars Lindgren
Classification: Junior
Major: Cell & Molecular Biology/Honors Arts & Letters
Hometown: Lubbock, TX
Career Goals: Physician/Medical Professor
Favorite Aspect of being a Bayless Mentor: My favorite aspect of mentoring at Bayless is being able to have a direct positive impact on someone's life. For some of these kids, seeing their mentor is the highlight of their week, and it feels amazing to be a part of that.
Campus Involvement Coordinator
Brevin Thompson
Classification: Junior
Major: Microbiology
Hometown: Hobbs, New Mexico
Career Goals: I hope to attend medical school with the long-term goal of working as an orthopedic surgeon.
Favorite Aspect of being a Bayless Mentor: I love everything the Bayless mentoring program has to offer, and really enjoy the opportunity to make a student's week a little better. There is nothing that can beat the smile that lights up your student's face when you walk into their room. Being a mentor you have the unique chance to be a positive influence in a young child's life, which could potentially stick with them for many years. It is truly an amazing thing that I hope all the mentors will take full advantage of.
