Forrest Bowers West Texas Legal Legend Scholarship Endowment
Forrest Bowers West Texas Legal Legend Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was established by the Beaumont Foundation of America to honor the legacy of Forrest Bowers (1924-2019). The J.T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation provided matching funds for this scholarship.
Forrest grew up on a cotton farm in Dunn, Texas. During World War II, he served as a P-51 pilot and later earned his law degree from the University of Texas in 1951. He went on to conduct numerous jury trials and handled over 100 published appellate cases. Forrest was recognized as a Texas Legal Legend by the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas and was listed among the "100 Legal Legends" of the past century by the Texas Lawyer.
The scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding law students at Texas Tech University.
