J. Hadley and Helen Edgar

 

J. Hadley Edgar, Jr., a seasoned trial lawyer who had practiced with the distinguished Amarillo firm of Gibson, Ochsner & Adkins for fifteen years, joined the faculty in 1971. Professor Edgar, a noted expert on torts and Texas procedure and the author of books on both topics, was feared and revered by his students. He was named the Robert H. Bean Professor of Law and was twice honored with the Outstanding Law Professor award. After 21 years on the faculty, he retired in 1992.

Professor Edgar and his wife Helen left a substantial bequest gift to the J. Hadley and Helen Edgar Professorship. Former students also contributed to the Professorship and established the J. Hadley Edgar Endowed Scholarship, ensuring that Professor Edgar's legacy will forever be remembered.
