Rachel Jorgensen is the Outreach Services Librarian for the Law Library and an Associate Librarian of Law at Texas Tech University School of Law. In this role, she supports implementation of the Law Library’s vision by providing leadership and planning for the Law Library’s outreach programs, including administration, strategic planning, and implementation of services for students and the wider Law School community. Professor Jorgensen also teaches in the Law Library’s instructional programs, including first-year Legal Practice research workshops and the Excellence in Legal Research Program. Professor Jorgensen also teaches Texas Legal Research.

Professor Jorgensen holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa in Art History and American Studies, a M.L.I.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a J.D. from the David A. Clarke School of Law.

Professor Jorgensen has spent her career in higher education, holding positions at the University of California, San Francisco and the University of Iowa. Upon earning her master’s in library science Professor Jorgensen became the inaugural library fellow at Northern Michigan University, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Upon completing the fellowship Professor Jorgensen became the Information Literacy Librarian and Assistant Professor at the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C., and then upon completion of her J.D., she became a reference librarian at the Georgetown University Law School Library. Her research interests include the academic law library’s role in law students’ legal competencies acquisition and the early history of academic libraries in the West.
