Texas Tech Law Celebrates Alumni Excellence at State Bar Reception

TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW | JULY 3, 2026

Texas Tech Law alumni and friends gathered in Houston during the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting for the Law School's annual Alumni Reception and Alumni Association Awards. The evening celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of the Texas Tech Law community while recognizing alumni and partners whose leadership and service continue to bring distinction to the Law School.

Alumni Association Awards were presented to six outstanding individuals and one organization whose leadership, service, and professional accomplishments reflect the very best of Texas Tech Law.

Outstanding Service Award was presented to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office

The Outstanding Service Award was presented to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office in recognition of its longstanding partnership with the Law School through recruiting, mentoring, and creating opportunities for Texas Tech Law students and graduates. District Attorney Phil Sorrells '91 accepted the award on behalf of the office.

Daniel H. Benson Public Service Award - Brooke T. Paup '05

Daniel H. Benson Public Service Award - Deborah M. Young '95

The Daniel H. Benson Public Service Award honored two alumni whose careers exemplify a commitment to serving the public. Brooke T. Paup '05, chairwoman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, was recognized for her leadership in water infrastructure, environmental policy, and public service across Texas. Deborah M. Young '95 was recognized for more than 25 years of distinguished service to the Texas judiciary, including her recent retirement as Clerk of the First and Fourteenth Courts of Appeals.

The Rising Star Award was presented to Hon. Jennifer M. Dillingham '09

The Rising Star Award was presented to Hon. Jennifer M. Dillingham '09, judge of the 81st Judicial District Court, for her outstanding leadership, commitment to public service, and dedication to improving the administration of justice in the communities she serves.

The (G.O.L.D.) Award was presented to Jason T. Bramow '16

The Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) Award was presented to Jason T. Bramow '16, Deputy General Counsel in the Office of the Governor of Texas, in recognition of his outstanding career in public service and leadership at both the state and local levels.

Although unable to attend the reception, Jerry M. Kolander Jr. '71 was recognized as the recipient of the Hershell L. Barnes Ambassador Award for more than five decades of supporting Texas Tech Law, mentoring students, and serving as an exceptional ambassador for the Law School.
 
Also recognized in absentia was Kalle Ann Riner '20, recipient of the D. Murray Hensley Service Award, for her extraordinary commitment to coaching and mentoring Texas Tech Law advocacy teams while building a successful career as a felony prosecutor.
