Masters of Music/Doctor of Music Arts in Conducting - orchestral
The Texas Tech University orchestral conducting program centers on the individual learning journey of each conductor, fostering the development of personal authenticity and artistic identity. Through a focus on pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, score study, and performance practice, students will explore and refine their unique approach to conducting. Emphasis is placed on reflective and experiential learning, encouraging each conductor to discover their own interpretive voice and leadership style. Students will gain practical experience serving as an assistant conductor for the university orchestra program, opera, and other opportunities throughout the program.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Prepare a 10-minute video of a choir rehearsal (conductor-facing preferable); submit via YouTube link.
- Prepare a video of choral performance of a two piece contrasting pieces (conductor-facing preferable); submit via YouTube link.
- Locate a sample of academic writing (preferably something from a previous degree); submit a file in pdf format
- Write a personal statement indicating the following:
- Why you plan to pursue a graduate degree
- Why you have applied to Texas Tech University
- Your future career goals
- Anything else that would be helpful to know about you
- Complete an application through the Graduate School
