School of Music Student Travel Information

Applications for individual student travel are open for 2025-2026. 

All School of Music funding for travel through August 31, 2026 must be applied for by March 27, 2026.

For Undergraduate Students
all Undergraduate Travel requires a faculty sponsor. Your faculty member must email aa.light@ttu.edu prior to submission of an application. 

For Graduate Students:
The School of Music, College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Graduate School maintain separate but connected travel funding programs for graduate students. Students should follow these procedures to solicit funding. 

1. 1. All travel requests begin in the department. Students should not begin a request for travel by soliciting the College of Visual and Performing Arts or the Graduate School Directly. The first step is to complete this form: School of Music Travel Application Form
   2. If eligible, representatives from the School of Music will then assist students in applying to the Graduate School for matching funding. Note that some activities that are eligible for funding from the School of Music but are not eligible for funding from the Graduate School. Please do not submit funding requests directly to the Graduate School without approval from an Associate Director.    3. After either (1) a determination that travel is not eligible for Graduate School funding, or (2) a confirmation of funding from the Graduate School, students may then continue to the College of Visual and Performing Arts application, with information available here: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/visual-performing-arts/research/student-creative-activity-awards/index.php

In general, with a mix of funds from all available sources, travel funding may be available in amounts between $500 and $1500. In general, the School of Music will provide funding in amounts between $500 and $1000 to be used as a matching source for College and Graduate School, or other programs. 

Funding is only available once per academic year per student. Students must have full-time status and be in residency in the semester of travel. During summer, students must have registered full-time and residency status in the semester prior. Students are not eligible for funding for trips that occur after graduation or prior to enrollment in the School of Music.
