Shea Hembrey’s recent artwork uses painting in novel ways to native bird habitat.  His paintings have been featured in New American Paintings, Pulse Miami, Expo Chicago, and in solo exhibits at Hallwalls and at Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery in New York City.

His release of SEEK, a biennial of art the work of 100 artists—all of whom he invented and created the artwork for himself, garnered widespread attention when the project was featured in a six-page profile in the New York Times Sunday Magazine. This biennial debuted on the TED Talk stage and has been widely shared on Netflix. 

He has been an artist in residence at diverse institutions including Stony Brook University, Djerassi, Sculpture Space, Ucross, the University of Iowa, and the Golden Paint Factory.
